Nami Island (Namiseom) is a wooded island near Gapyeong that is popular as a Seoul day trip in every season. The key detail many first-time visitors miss is that the normal admission price already includes the round-trip regular ferry.

Ferry hours
Korea Tourism Organization currently lists Nami Island operating hours as 08:00–21:00. The ferry from Gapyeongnaru is listed at roughly 30-minute intervals from 08:00–09:00 and 10–20 minute intervals from 09:00–18:00, with schedules subject to change. Seasonal extended hours can apply.
Do I have to take the ferry?
No. The official FAQ says visitors can enter by regular ferry, motorboat or zip wire. The zip wire is for entering the island; the return trip is by boat. Current official information lists zip-wire packages at KRW 55,000 and KRW 58,000 depending on course, including island admission and the return ferry.
How can a foreign visitor buy and pay?
You can buy admission at the on-site ticketing area or use Nami Island’s official online reservation page, which advertises QR entry and online ticket options. The official Nami Island site also links to several global booking platforms. Those can be useful if an overseas-issued card does not work smoothly on a Korean checkout, but compare cancellation rules and final price before paying.
If you buy on site, bring a physical credit/debit card and Korean won as a backup. The official information does not promise acceptance of every overseas card network.

How to get there from Seoul
The common independent route is to travel from Seoul to the Gapyeong area by rail and continue to the wharf by local transport or taxi. Exact train schedules change, so use NAVER Map for the local leg and the current Korail/rail service for your intercity connection.
How long should you spend?
For a relaxed first visit, plan several hours on the island plus travel time from Seoul. Autumn foliage and spring weekends can be very busy. If you mainly want the tree-lined paths and a walk, half a day on the island is usually more practical than trying to combine too many distant attractions.
