Free Public Wi-Fi in Seoul 2026: How Foreign Visitors Can Connect
Last verified: October 10, 2026 · Primary source: Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Seoul operates a citywide public Wi-Fi network in major streets, traditional markets, parks, riverside areas, bus stops, tourist attractions, cultural facilities and buses. For visitors, the most useful network name is SEOUL_Secure.
Fastest way to connect
| Setting | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Wi-Fi network | SEOUL_Secure or, where available, SEOUL_Secure_(3) |
| ID / Username | seoul |
| Password | seoul |
Seoul’s 2026 official guide recommends the secure network. Once configured, your device can reconnect automatically at other participating Seoul public Wi-Fi locations.
What is SEOUL_Secure_(3)?
Seoul says SEOUL_Secure_(3) uses the newer WPA3-Enterprise security standard. If your device supports it and the network is available, it is a good first choice.
Android setup
On Android, choose the secure Seoul network and enter seoul for both identity and password. Seoul’s official English guidance has historically instructed Android users to select PEAP as the EAP method. The exact labels can differ by Android version, so follow your phone’s current security prompts rather than disabling security settings unnecessarily.
iPhone setup
Choose SEOUL_Secure, enter seoul for the username and password, and review the certificate prompt shown by iOS. Only accept a profile or certificate when you intentionally selected the official Seoul SSID.
What if SEOUL_Secure does not work?
Seoul also operates the open network SEOUL. Select it and the public Wi-Fi landing page should open; choose the general connection option. Seoul notes that this open connection requires manual connection each time, whereas the secure network is designed for automatic reconnection.
Where can I find Seoul public Wi-Fi?
The city lists major streets, traditional markets, parks and streams, bus stops, tourist attractions, cultural and welfare facilities, city buses and village buses. Seoul has also specifically expanded high-speed public Wi-Fi in popular Hangang parks such as Yeouido and Ttukseom.
Is it free for tourists?
Yes. The Seoul public network does not require a Korean phone contract. Your normal mobile roaming charges are unrelated if you are connected through Wi-Fi rather than cellular data.
Public Wi-Fi safety
Prefer SEOUL_Secure to similarly named open networks. Avoid entering sensitive financial credentials on an unfamiliar network, keep your device software updated, and verify the SSID spelling before connecting.
Public Wi-Fi vs eSIM
Free Wi-Fi is useful as a backup, but it does not cover every street or every moment of a trip. If you depend on navigation, ride-hailing or messaging throughout the day, consider combining public Wi-Fi with an eSIM, SIM or roaming plan.
