Incheon Airport to Seoul: AREX vs Airport Bus vs Taxi (2026)

Information status
Last verified: October 10, 2026 · Source basis: primary sources and public-agency information

For most travelers arriving at Incheon International Airport, the main choices to reach Seoul are the AREX train, an airport limousine bus or a taxi. The best option depends less on which one is “best” overall and more on where your hotel is, how much luggage you have and whether you want the fewest transfers.

Quick comparison

Option Typical official time Official fare reference Best when
AREX Express T1 to Seoul Station 43 min; T2 51 min ₩13,000 one way You are heading to Seoul Station or want a fast, simple rail trip
AREX All-Stop T1 about 59 min; T2 about 66 min About ₩4,150–₩4,750 You are staying near Hongdae, Gongdeok or another AREX stop
Airport bus About 60–80 min, traffic dependent About ₩5,000–₩15,000 depending on route Your hotel is close to a bus stop and you want fewer transfers with luggage
Taxi Traffic dependent Metered; varies by destination and surcharges Several people are sharing the ride or you have heavy luggage

AREX Express Train

The Express Train runs non-stop between Incheon Airport and Seoul Station. Seoul’s official guide lists travel times of about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 minutes from Terminal 2, with a one-way fare of ₩13,000.

This is usually the easiest rail option if Seoul Station is close to your accommodation or you plan to transfer to another major rail line there.

AREX All-Stop Train

The All-Stop Train is slower but serves useful intermediate stations. Official Seoul information lists Terminal 1 to Seoul Station at about 59 minutes and Terminal 2 at about 66 minutes, with one-way fares in the roughly ₩4,150–₩4,750 range.

It is often practical for travelers staying near Hongik University, Gongdeok or other stations on the line because you can get off before Seoul Station.

Airport limousine bus

Airport buses serve many hotel and neighborhood areas directly. Seoul’s official guide gives a broad travel-time estimate of 60–80 minutes and fares of roughly ₩5,000–₩15,000 depending on the route.

The main advantage is not speed. It is convenience when the bus stops near your hotel and you would otherwise need to move luggage through several subway transfers.

Taxi

A taxi provides door-to-door travel and can make sense for families or small groups. The final price varies with destination, traffic, taxi type and possible surcharges. Seoul’s official airport transport guide also notes an expressway toll in addition to the metered fare for many trips.

For late-night travel, check current surcharge rules and official taxi guidance before you ride.

Which option should you choose?

  • Staying near Seoul Station: AREX Express is the simplest comparison point.
  • Staying near Hongdae: the All-Stop Train can avoid backtracking.
  • Hotel next to an airport bus stop: the limousine bus may be easier with large luggage.
  • Family or group with several bags: compare the total taxi cost with multiple train or bus fares.
  • Very late arrival: verify the last train and bus times before landing.

Map check before leaving the airport

Use your final Seoul destination, not only “Seoul,” when comparing routes. For AREX, Seoul Station is the main central reference point; airport buses and taxis may be more direct for other neighborhoods.
